Consistency
"Do your best", and remain consistent everyday. Just like making croissants, you must remain consistent with the recipe, the form, and the technique. If not, the flavour and texture will change, and the quality will diminish. Life is the same way. There is indeed often room for inviting new ingredients; however, you must remain faithful to the base recipe. Do your best; once you find your own base recipe in life that puts you on the right path, stick with it. The rest is a piece of cake.
