Observe the kids

I was at the temple the other day, a kid sat beside me which we are having our vegan lunch. A big plate of rice appear in front of her. She don't seem to be interested in them. She ate bit by bit...playing with the food while chewing. It seem that time is not a problem, her mum did not hurried her to finish the food.

I remember feeding my nephew his dinner, i am trying to feed him a bigger spoonful each time so that he can finished his bowl of rice very soon. Waiting for him to chew and swallow his food seems like ageless. He refused to open his mouth only after he had emptied it down his throat!

Aha! That's is it, i thought to myself, the secret of slowing down my own speed of eating is to play with the food? and not bothering about how long it takes to finish it? I too hope to enjoy my meal for as long as it takes.....

It is so refreshing to observe the kids, they seem so happy, so genuine, taking each moment as it comes. The smile on their face while they played.....

I lament that we so call "grown up" has forgotten to smile that way long time ago.
